Our Mission and Goals

The Hazen High School "Beyond the Basics" Fund has been established by alumni, parents and friends of Hazen High School to support students, staff and the Hazen community. We believe that ALL Hazen students deserve an opportunity to grow into educated, fulfilled and healthy adults.

The addition of the new auditorium in 2002 greatly enhanced Hazen's ability to provide exceptional quality educational programming as well as performance art for our students and community. Funding for this addition was provided through a construction bond resoundingly supported by the Hazen community.

Our Mission is to fulfill the community's expressed desire to see improvements and financial support at Hazen in as many areas as possible. Our Goals are to:

Enrich - Arts, Athletics & Activities

Provide additional support for our fine arts departments (Visual Arts, Drama and Music programs), for Hazen High School athletics and other student activities and clubs which foster student involvement and cooperation;

Enhance - Academics & Technology

Provide support in areas where traditional district money is not available. Examples might include pilot programs in robotics, advanced electronics, computer hardware, technology upgrades, support and training.

Endow - Scholarships & Grants

An important part of Hazen’s mission is to create life-long learners. “Beyond the Basics” will support this mission by providing post-secondary opportunities for as many students as possible. Your endowment contribution will provide a variety of scholarships and grants enabling students to pursue advanced educational or career choices. Also, endowed grants to support special teaching projects could be a valuable tool in developing unique, additional opportunities for all students.

Our Organization

The Renton Community Foundation Hazen High School "Beyond the Basics" Fund is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and is guided by a group of community volunteers to ensure that our commitment to student achievement, staff support and learning excellence are upheld. All donations are tax deductible.
